Jean Joyce Dean, 89, of Eau Claire, died June 16, 2016 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Eau Claire.

Jean was born on Nov. 20, 1926 in La Crosse, Wis.  She was the only child of Harriet (Fillner) and Bernard Weiker.

She married Sam F. Dean on June 20, 1953 in La Crosse, Wis., at St. John’s United Church of Christ. They were married for 57 years until Sam’s death in 2010. They lived in La Crosse and Eau Claire, Wis., respectively. Jean worked in La Crosse as a key punch operator from 1945-1967 for Gateway Transportation Co.  Upon her move to Eau Claire, she worked part time at J.C. Penney’s.  Jean enjoyed tending her iris garden at her home on Rudolph Road.

The family wants to express thanks and appreciation for the comfort and care Mom received from the staff at Care Partners Assisted Living.  Many of you were her second family.  Thank you also to Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Jean is survived by her two children; son, Jeffery and his wife Karen, of Fort Collins, Colo., their children Erin of Fort Collins and Rachel of Denver, Colo.; daughter, Jacqueline and her husband Gary Reich of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and their children John of Madison, Wis., and Laura of Los Angeles, Calif., and special friend Judy Amundson of Eau Claire.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona, Wis., with Rev. Barry Boyer officiating.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in La Crosse, Wis., at a later date.
