Hazel E. Pressley Palmer

Funeral services for the late Evangelist Hazel E. Pressley Palmer will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at noon from Lomax Hannon Auditorium with superintendent LoEarl Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Rest Cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville, Ala., will be directing.

Evangelist Hazel Elizabeth Pressley Palmer was born in Forest Home, Ala., on Nov. 30, 1956 to the late Patterson and Rosie Brown Pressley.

She received baptism of the Holy Ghost in 1975. Later she joined the Greenwood Church of God in Christ under leadership of the late superintendent Waymon Pryor. She remained a faithful, supportive, and dedicated member under the leadership of Superintendent LoEarl Flowers.

At her local church she served as the Kindergarten and Primary Sunday school teacher, finance committee, trustee board member, local evangelist, youth department advisor and member of the mother board. She served as District Supervisor of the Greenville District COGIC Alabama Jurisdiction One under the leadership of Bishop O. L. Meadows and Supervisor Mattie Taylor. She also served as the District Evangelist Elect Lady, District Advisor of the women department, and the 2015-2016 District Queen of the Women Department.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Patterson and Willie Pressley, and one grandchild, Ja’Keela Palmer.

On May 27, 1977 she married Mr. Joseph Roy Palmer Jr., and to this union four children were born.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a loving and devoted husband, Elder Joseph Roy Palmer Jr., Greenville, Ala.; children, Kimberly (Walter) Womack, Helena, Ala. Joshua (Denice) Palmer, Birmingham, Ala., Latosha Palmer and Joseph Palmer III, both of Greenville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, Davianna Connor, Cameron Williams, Joshua Palmer Jr., Walter Womack IV, Tyler Palmer, Kameron Whatley, Jamon Palmer, Jeremiah Xavier Palmer, Jeremiah Palmer and Kimora Womack; four sisters, Lula Bell (C.B.) McCastle, Mobile, Ala., and Janie, Elizabeth and Nancy Pressley, all  of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Matthew Pressley, Newark, Conn., and Ozell Pressley, Pensacola, Fla.; nine sisters-in-law, Louise (Sylvester) Coles, Birmingham, Ala., Lois Works, Diane Yelder, Edna Palmer, Janet Salter, and Sandra Palmer, all of Greenville, Ala., Gloria (Lionel) Bryant, Houston, Texas, and Mattie Andrews and Jeanora Pressley, both of Forest Home, Ala.; five brothers- in- law, Hosea (Lula) Palmer, Greenville, Ala., Tim (Edith) Palmer, Tuscaloosa, Ala., Lee (Deidra) Loveless, Forest Home, Ala., and Rickey and Calvin Watson, both of Detroit, Mich.; godchildren, Theresa Perdue, Tykeysha Boone, Trameeka Pressley and Markius Perdue; special family members: Derek, Jason, Nikki, and Kimmie Reynolds, Lakeisha Ward, Marshall Frye, Treyuna Peagler, Kiara Baugh, and Hugh Mack Peagler; lifelong friends, Mae P. Gaffney and Gloria Rivers; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, church family, other relatives, and friends.
