James Ira “J.I.” Brook:
James Ira “J.I.” Brook, 91, a resident of Luverne, Ala., passed away on Sunday, May 15. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, from the chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Tate officiating. Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Brook was preceded in death by his parents, James I. Brook and Della Swanner; two sisters, Mittie Milton and Bessie Catrette; and three brothers, Tilmon Brook, Eugene Brook and Irby R. Brook. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mazelle Dickey Brook; two children, James Austin (Leah) Brook, Sr. and Charles Anthony Brook; two grandchildren, James Austin (Alex Sanders) Brook, Jr. and Chancellor Anthony Brook; one brother, Tylon (Genetha) Brook; and four sisters-in-law, Betty Brook, Katrine (Don) Scroggins, Betty Dickey and Martha Dickey.
