SPECIAL TO THE JOURNAL:

Crenshaw County’s 2016 Distinguished Young Woman, HeartLee Pittman, participated in the State Alabama DYW Program in January. She enjoyed staying with her host family, the Blackwells, and roommate from Walker County for nine days.

“I feel truly blessed to have been given this opportunity that has left an overwhelming positive impact on my life,” Pittman said.

“I will forever cherish the memories and wonderful friendships that I have made.”

Pittman and her friend Meredith Missildine, Crenshaw County’s DYW scholastic winner, recruited in all Crenshaw County high schools recently.

Local Crenshaw County 11th grade females are eligible to participate in this program. This year, eighth through 10th grade girls in Crenshaw County are eligible to participate in the program as Little Sisters.

An orientation meeting was held recently at the Luverne Public Library for all interested contestants and Little Sisters. Students from all four schools in Crenshaw County attended the meeting, and the next event is slated for June 18th.
