A Luverne man was arrested in Daleville after being caught in a prostitution sting that authorities say took place between May 4 and May 6.

According to Daleville Department of Public Safety Chief Harvey Mathis, David C. Franklin, 48, of Luverne was charged with a misdemeanor third-degree promoting prostitution.

Franklin, along with 14 other men, was locked up in the Daleville City Jail and given $1,000 bond.

“Law enforcement around the country has been very successful in reducing prostitution by focusing attention on sex buyers, often called ‘johns,”’ Mathis said.

“Those who solicit sex for money are the ones that fuel the sex industry. It was our intent in arresting them in our sting operation to curb the demand for prostitution. We are joining law enforcement agencies around the country conducting similar operations hoping to strangle the sex industry and help curb human trafficking.”
