William Bryant Blackmon, 83, a resident of Georgiana, Ala., passed away Friday, April 15. A celebration of life service was held Monday, April 18 at 2 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Randy Harvill officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Ala., directed arrangements. Survivors include wife, Peggy Blackmon, Georgiana, Ala.; daughters, Jennifer Waddell and Melissa McKenna, both of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Denise Griffith, Fayetteville, Ark.; sisters, Juanita Beckler and Patricia Compton, both of Georgiana, Ala.; and brother, Charles King Blackmon, Georgiana, Ala. Bryant also leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were Brant Waddell, Trent Waddell, Connor McKenna, Mitchell Griffith, Wayne Waddell and Stephen Blackmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Judson Garner, Johnny Stinson, Buster Scruggs, Charles Blackmon and Steve Griffith. A gathering of family and friends was held Monday from 1 p.m. until service time.
