Will J. “Billy” Steen, 97, a resident of Greenville, Ala., died Friday, March 11, 2016 at William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette, Ala. The funeral service was held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Willie Crawford officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Steen was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Columbus and Ruth Crawford Steen; five brothers and one sister. He is survived by his son, Will ”Butch” J. Steen Jr. (Laura) of Zachary, La.; daughter, Rebecca Holmes Wilson (Michael) of Elijay, Ga.; granddaughters, Rachel Steen Porter and Jennifer Nickerson Hamrick; five great-granddaughters; sister, Barbara Steen Bryant, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy was a World War II Navy veteran serving on the USS LST 815 from 1943 until 1946. He retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. now AT&T after 43 years of service. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers especially Margaret Albritton, Alice King and Skyenia Young for their care and love.
