A Greenville woman is behind bars after she allegedly shot a man in the head Wednesday night.

According to authorities, Shantel Jalisa Boone, 27, shot a 31-year-old man in the head around 8:45 p.m. The shooting took place on Linda Avenue in Greenville, and according to police, was likely the result of a domestic dispute.

“Investigators responded to the scene and very quickly developed a person of interest after speaking to neighbors and processing the scene,” said Capt. Justin Lovvorn, commander of the Criminal Investigation Division.

Boone was located by police and taken to the police department. After being questioned by investigators, Boone was placed under arrest for attempted murder.

The charge was later upgraded to murder after the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Boone is being held at the Butler County Correctional Facility with no bond.

The victim, who police are not yet identifying, was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. He died around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
