Funeral Service for Ms. Jennifer Thornton will be held Saturday, March 5, at noon at Mt. Ida Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville. Interment will be at the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Michael Pouncey will officiate. Carter Rice & West Funeral Home of Greenville will direct the service.

Ms. Jennifer Thornton was born Feb. 6, 1955, in Butler County Alabama to the late E. Mickelson Sr. and Dorothy Thornton. She departed her life on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the age of 61.

At an early age she joined the Bryant Memorial Baptist Church, Bronx, New York and later moved her membership to Mount Ida Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mattie Thornton, and two brothers, Willie Cab Thornton and Mark Thornton.

Mourning her loss but cherishing her memories are two sons, Pernell Thornton and Travis Bradley; three daughters, Gwendolyn (Eric) Carmichael, Sheena Thornton, and Dorothy Thornton all of Greenville, Ala.; A loving nephew, Anthony Thornton; nine grandchildren, J’ana Morris, Janiya Morris, Deshawn Morris, Pernell Thornton Jr., Derriana Bradley, Destini Dennis, Aubrey Thornton, Darell Dennis and Tra’Devion Bradley, all of Greenville, Ala.; four brothers, Leroy (Bessie) Johnson Sr., Sam E. Johnson Sr., Bob L. Thornton and Tony C. Thornton; one sister, Jacqueline D. Thornton; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends, and a devoted friend, Linda Brown.
