Funeral services for Mr. David Meriweather were held on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at 1 p.m. from Oak Grove AME Zion Church. Rev. Robert Jackson officiated. Burial followed in Oak Grove cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville, Ala., directed. Mr. David Edward Meriweather was born on Sept. 25, 1929 to the union of the late Sam and Ethel Meriweather.  He married Faye Louise (Roper) Meriweather and to this union no children were born.

David departed this life on Monday, Feb. 15, 2016.

He united and was baptized at Oak Bye Church of Christ. David served his country as an army medic during the Korean War.

David was proceeded in death by his parents and wife, brothers, Ruben, Frank, Nolon and Sammie Lee Meriweather; and sisters, Pearlie Mae Coleman, Fronia Bassham and Mattie Bell Peterson.

David leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and loving niece, Ethel (Kat), and her son (Antonio/Tony), who was his caregiver for many years; two loving nieces; Annie (Nathan) Savage, and Earline (Paul) Graham, raised with him as sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews relatives and friends.
