George Eldon Slagley, 83, a resident of Greenville, Ala., died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015.  A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015 from the chapel of Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home of Greenville, Ala., with Rev. Robert Paul officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

George Eldon Slagley was born Oct. 13, 1932 in Clay County, Flora, Ill. He was the son of Pearl Austin Slagley and Genelle Smith.  He married Kathryn Jo Modlin on June 17, 1951 in Xenia, Ill.  He worked for the U.S. Army in St. Louis, Mo., and Ft. Rucker, Ala.  He also worked for Quality RV Sales in Dothan, Ala., and served in the U.S. Navy.  He retired in December 1986.

Mr. Slagley was preceded in death by his brothers, William L. Slagley and Robert Slagley. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Jo Slagley; sons, Dale A. Slagley (Nancy) of Edwardsville, Ill., and Gale A. Slagley (Jody) of Greenville, Ala.
