Bruce P. McCarty Sr. 73, a resident of Ft. Deposit, Ala., passed away Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015 from the Antioch East Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Boulware officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Creek Cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Ala., will be directing arrangements. Bruce was preceded in death by his son, Bruce P. McCarty Jr. Survivors include wife, Katie N. McCarty, Ft. Deposit, Ala.; daughter, Kristin Holcomb, Ft. Deposit, Ala.; son, Scott (Tamara) Holcomb, Ft. Deposit, Ala.; brothers, Bernard McCarty, Mobile, Ala., and Buford (Marsha) McCarty, Birmingham, Ala.; and grandsons, Bishop Holcomb and Tate Holcomb, both of Ft. Deposit, Ala. Bruce also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews. Bruce taught the Faith Sunday school class at Antioch East Baptist Church and was a master mason with Ft. Deposit Lodge No. 291. Bruce attended Auburn University and was a real Auburn fan. Active pallbearers will be Franklin Mixon, Jeremy Marvin, Carter Castle, Scott Holcomb, Corey McCarty, Michael Norris, Bishop Holcomb and Tate Holcomb. Honorary pallbearers will be the Faith Sunday school class of Antioch East Baptist Church. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
