Morris Herston Burkett, 83, a resident of Georgiana, AL died at Baptist South Medical Center Friday, October 23, 2015. The funeral service will be Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Morris Herston Burkett was born in Garland, Alabama on May 15, 1932. Mr. Burkett was preceded in death by his parents: Annie Bell Reid and Marcellus Herston Burkett; children; Dana Herston Burkett and Ben Dean Burkett; brother: Royce Donn Burkett and Shannon Therril Burkett; sister: Bonnie Ann Burkett. He is survived by his wife: Bobbye Jewel Jones Burkett; children: Kenneth Ivan Burkett and Scott David Burkett; grandchildren: Heidi Deane Emmons (George Emmons), Amy Elizabeth Bass (Clint Bass), Devin Herston Burkett (Stacey), Benjamin Scott Burkett (Viviana), Carlie Anne Burkett, Bonnie Leann Lee (Derrick Lee), Reid Hill Burkett, Kenneth Todd Burkett (McCall), and Ryan Marcellus Burkett; great-grandchildren: Arianna and Makenna Jewel Emmons, Alex, Benjamin and Claire Bass, Brooke and Parks Burkett, Sophia and Allison Burkett, and Lilly Burkett; nephew: Michael Burkett; niece: Jana Outlaw (Charles Outlaw); daughter-in-laws: Rene Siler Burkett and Sharon Baukemper.

Active pallbearers will be Reid Burkett, Todd Burkett, Ryan Burkett, George Till, Cal Jones and Marty Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce McCarty, Jim Ryan and the Seniors Sunday School Class of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
