It was another hard-fought game for the Pleasant Home Eagles (1-8, 1-5), but it was the Brantley Bulldogs who came away with a 61-19 win Friday night in Pleasant Home.

“We ran the ball pretty well tonight, but turnovers really hurt us again,” Pleasant Home coach Chris Mason said. “We didn’t quit, though, and I was proud of that.”

Mason said the Eagles opened up with a strong drive and had the ball inside the Bulldogs’ 20-yard line, but a fumbled snap went from bad to worse.

“We fumble the snap and he chases it back 20 yards and instead of falling on the ball we tried to scoop it up and make something happen,” Mason said. “He misses the ball and Brantley winds up scooping it up and scoring.”

Mason said that had the snap not been mishandled, that they had a player wide open for a touchdown.

“Our tight end got behind the coverage for what would have been an easy score, but who knows if that would have changed how the ballgame played out,” Mason said.

Reid Adams was the leading rusher for the Eagles, as he piled up 182 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.

Robert Scott had two catches for 34 yards and one touchdown. The touchdown came on a 19-yard pass from Garrett Barton.

Rico Bovino picked up 57 on just three carries for the Eagles.

“We never quit tonight,” Mason said. “We could have laid down after we fell behind, but we didn’t and I’m very proud of that. I really liked the way we kept clawing and fighting back. We have one more game left against a good Samson team, and we won’t to come out and surprise them. We want to send these seniors out on a high note.”
