Crenshaw struggled early in the first quarter by throwing an interception. Northside capitalized on the turnover by making a touchdown. The point after attempt was no good.

John Tyler Hoffman’s pass to Tanner Dillon was complete with a 15-yard gain. Hoffman’s next pass to Preston Owens was incomplete. The offense tried to gain composure, but failed with a fumble by Hoffman.

CCA had many missed opportunities and several penalties in the second quarter, which brought the score at the half to 6-0.

CCA’s offense tried hard to score. Blake Taylor ran the ball 20 yards, but CCA failed to convert a first down on Northside’s 18-yard line.

Defense held Northside’s offense to a non-scoring 3rd quarter.

With 3:10 left in the game, the Cougars’ last touchdown attempt failed on the 1-yard line due to a fumble. Northside recovered and scored, bringing the final score to 14-0.

“The boys had a lot of mistakes tonight on offense,” said Cougar Justin Hall. “If we could have converted and scored on our mistakes, we would have won this game. Defense did good overall holding the score to just 14 points.”

The CCA JV football team will take on Evangel Christian in Montgomery Tuesday, Sept. 8.
