First Baptist Church of Luverne welcomed a new pastor this month. The Rev. Clay Crum, children (left to right) Caleb, Jacob and Sarah; and wife, Kelley, are excited to call Luverne home.

Bro. Clay Crum, new pastor of First Baptist of Luverne, has a life verse: “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven,” Matthew 5:16.

With great fire and obedience to God’s call, he and his wife, Kelley, and three children, Jacob, 9, Sarah, 7, and Caleb, 4, made the move to Luverne this month.

Crum most recently held the position of director of missions of the Alabama Baptist Association before embracing this new call.

He is passionate for people inside of the church as well as outside of the walls. His prayer for the community is that people would turn their hearts and lives towards God and to get their focus on Him and what He wants for their lives.

Crum prays that people will step out of their comfort zone because God is ready to meet them right where they are. He knows that for revival to start, it starts within each one of God’s people.

First Baptist of Luverne is very blessed to have him and his family lead them and future generations to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and towards the plans and purpose God has for their lives.

He will tell you he is a “God pleaser” and not a “people pleaser” and that anything other than the Bible is garbage.

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me,” Galatians 2:20.

Looking towards the future of the church and community, He is excited to see how God is going to use First Baptist to touch others outside the walls of the church.
