Members of the Pentecostal Church of Christ in Brantley continued its annual tradition of serving a Thanksgiving dinner to senior citizens at the Brantley Senior Center.

Because seniors were welcome to bring family, Brantley residents, both young and old, were in attendance.

“We’re just so fortunate to have people like them in our community,” said Brantley Bernie Sullivan.

He and members of the council attended the event.

“That’s what makes the community what it is – a family of friends,” Sullivan added.

The dinner included plenty of holiday favorites like turkey, ham, pie and yams.

“They know how to cook,” said Mary Burnett. “I come every year.”

Louise Morgan said she enjoyed the meal, too.

“I think it’s wonderful, such a good thing for them to do … and we do appreciate it,” she said.

Pastor George Stringer said his church started the tradition because members appreciated everything the seniors of Brantley had done for them.

“This is just a way to give back,” he said. A lot of them helped me be who I am. They raised me. And we appreciate their service.”
