Butler County fair opens Wednesday

Fun rides, festive food, engaging exhibits and exciting entertainment are all on tap for the 60th annual Butler County Fair, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the county fairgrounds.

The annual event is sponsored by the Greenville Kiwanis. The rides and games will be provided by Archway Amusements.

On Wednesday night, the Antioch East Baptist Church Choir will perform beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Thursday night, the Greenville High School marching band will entertain fairgoers, and on Friday Kaoss will perform. Both shows start at 6:30 p.m.

Roscoe Miller will take the stage at 6 p.m. Saturdy night.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Armbands will be available for $13 to ride all evening Wednesday through Friday.

On Saturday, armbands will be available for $8 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Armbands will not be valid after 5 p.m.

The Greenville Kiwanis use the proceeds from the fair each year to support a number of worthy causes within the community, including scholarships to Key Club members, providing Christmas presents for the county’s underprivileged children, and assisting other youth-oriented programs.
