Greenville’s Horn named president of AWF

Greenville’s Horace Horn, Jr. was installed as president of the Alabama Wildlife Federation for the 2014-2015 term at the organization’s annual meeting Aug. 8.
Horn has served on the Alabama Wildlife Federation Board of Directors for seven years.
“Horace has been an outstanding board member and leader. We are fortunate to have someone with his experience, talent, and energy serve as the next president of AWF,” said Tim Gothard, executive director of AWF. “He will be an asset to the Alabama Wildlife Federation and we are looking forward to a productive year under his guidance.”

In addition to serving on the Alabama Wildlife Federation Board of Directors, Horace also serves on the Alabama Wildlife Federation Executive Committee. He is also a member and past chairman of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
As vice president of external affairs at PowerSouth, Horace oversees the daily operations of governmental and public affairs in Alabama, Florida and Washington. Prior to joining PowerSouth, he served as Alabama State Director of USDA Rural Development.
Outside of work, Horace enjoys quail hunting, fishing, tending his family farm, and spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Troy University and is married to Linda, who is vice president of member services for Pioneer Electric Cooperative.
The Alabama Wildlife Federation, established by sportsmen in 1935, is the state’s oldest and largest citizens’ conservation organization. The mission of the Alabama Wildlife Federation, a 501(c) 3 non-profit group supported by membership dues and donations, is to promote conservation and wise use of Alabama’s wildlife and related natural resources as a basis for economic and social prosperity.
