A memorial service for Eric LaDon “Don” Cumbie, 77, will be held Saturday, July 26, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Eufaula with Dr. Ken Bush officiating and Chapman Funeral Home directing arrangements. Mr. Cumbie died July 24 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. He was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Butler County. He was the son of Eric Andrew and Helen Lucile Horne Cumbie. Mr. Cumbie was the owner of Cumbie Incorporated for 37 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Cumbie was preceeded in death by a sister, Gail Flowers. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy Cumbie of Eufaula, Ala.; two sons, Eric Cumbie, Jr., Eufaula, Ala., and Kevin (Kelly) Cumbie of Canon, Ga.; daughter, Cameron (Jamie) Ellison of Bakerhill, Ala.; five grandchildren, Reagan (Michael) O’Connor, Smyrna, Ga., Erica Cumbie, Atlanta, Grant Cumbie, Atlanta, Jordon Ellison, Bakerhill, Ala., and Bailey Ellison, Bakerhill, Ala.; two sisters, Frances (Allen) Dunn, Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Jean (Billy) Heartsill, Greenville, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the morning breakfast group and special square dance friends.
