The national-touring children’s theater Hampstead Stage Company will present a special adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” on Saturday at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library.

The production starts at 11 a.m.

“This will be the third time here for the Hampstead Stage Company and they’re always a popular program for both children and adults,” said Library Director Kevin Pearcey. “If you love theater, if you love talent, if you love Alice in Wonderland … you will enjoy this play immensely.”

The Hampstead Stage Co., based in New Hampshire, tours the country bringing theatrical productions of literary classics to schools and libraries. The company designs its own sets and adapts the source material for all audiences.

“What’s really unique is that it is two performers and they play all of the parts in the play,” said Pearcey.

Plays last approximately 45 minutes to one hour, said Pearcey.

The library has hosted the Hampstead Stage Co. twice in the past — last year for a performance of “The Secret Garden” and in April for “Hercules and the Heroes.”

The library has several other events remaining to close out the summer. The library hosts the McWane Science Center for “Science With a Bang” on Friday, July 25, and the 3rd Annual Star Wars Day will be held on Saturday, Aug. 2.

“We’re also still in the process of working with the Montgomery Biscuits organization to get their mascot “Big Mo” here for a visit,” Pearcey said. “It looks like now that may have to happen in August due to scheduling conflicts.”
