Jimmie Sue Ray, 85, a resident of Montgomery, passed away on July 1. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on July 7 at Shackleville Cemetery in Georgiana with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements. Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her parents, James M. Morgan and Willa Mae (Williams) Morgan; step-father, James P. Yates; sisters, Imogene Jackson and Willodean Vinci; brothers-in-law, Robert Jackson and Jerry Vinci. Survivors include: nieces, Janie Jackson, Montgomery, Diane Holt, Santa Rose, Calif., and Debra Matthews, Fallbrook, Calif.; and one grandniece, Morgan Jackson Flowers, Montgomery. Mrs. Ray was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Pike County, Ala. She worked as a medical office manager. She lived at Country Cottage Assisted Living for the past six years. She was the youngest of three girls born into a family that she dearly loved. Jimmie Sue (or Jim as she was usually called) was independent, funny and usually the “life of the party.” She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and her work, where she frequently cooked a homemade “meat and three” lunch for the medical office staff. Most of the vegetables were grown in her own garden. Living on a lake with several acres to keep up she could often be seen cutting the grass on her tractor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Montgomery Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.johnsongeorgiana.com.
