Distinguished Young Women program set for Saturday

Several local  young women will compete Saturday night for the title of Crenshaw County’s Distinguished Young Woman. DYW is a scholarship program that was founded in 1958 in Mobile. It is the largest and oldest national scholarship program for high school girls, and has awarded more than $93 million in cash scholarships at the local, state and national levels since its creation. Crenshaw County’s competition will be held Saturday at Luverne High School. The theme for this year’s program is “DYW Loves the ’80s.”  Starla Jones will serve as emcee for the evening. The Crenshaw County Distinguished Young Women program is set to begin at 7 p.m.
