Burkett awarded Cattlemen’s scholarship

James Burkett, of Georgiana, was presented with an Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship at the 71st Annual Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Convention and Trade Show in Montgomery.

Burkett will graduate from Fort Dale Academy with a 3.8 GPA and a 23 ACT score. He is an honor student, member of Key Club, member of Fellowship Of Christian Athletics, SGA, Senior Beta Club, varsity baseball and football. He plans to attend Lurleen B. Wallace Community College and major in nursing.

Each year, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation awards scholarships to deserving youth from Alabama’s livestock industry.  These scholarships are funded through the sales of the “Cowboy Tag” which is available at your county’s tag office and is approved for vehicles up to 10,000 pounds.
