Greenville man arrested for weekend shooting

A 26-year-old Greenville man was arrested Monday after allegedly shooting into an occupied vehicle on Saturday.

Tywaun Allen has been charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle, assault, third degree, menacing and criminal mischief, second degree, according to the Greenville Police Department.

“On Saturday around 6:15 p.m., officers received a report of a shooting progress on South Park Street,” said Lt. Justin Lovvorn. “Officers arrived on scene and learned that an altercation had taken place between several individuals that escalated into a shooting.”

According to police, when a 23-year-old man who was involved in the altercation got in his car to drive away from the scene, Allen fired at the car and then fled the scene.

After inspecting the car, authorities discovered four bullet holes. The victim was not injured in the shooting.

“After interviewing witnesses and the victim, I was able to establish the offender’s name and obtain a warrant for his arrest,” Lovvorn said.
