Elma Mae Scott

Funeral services for Ms. Elma Mae Scott were held on April 20 at 2 p.m. from Cloverhill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery with Hudson Funeral Services directing arrangements. Ms. Scott was born on May 24, 1927, to Tommy and Ida Scott. She was the last of the family legacy to earn her wings. She departed this life on April 16 at Crowne Health Care in Greenville, while surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong member of the Cloverhill Baptist Church where she served on the program committee, in the choir, and Missionary Society. She was known for the dynamic programs she produced for the church. She attended Hopewell School were she was on the basketball team. She was a graduate of Calhoun High School. She loved her family, church, and she never met a stranger. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, and her son, Woodrow C. “Bill” Scott. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, John Arthur Jones Jr., (Rose Penn) Montgomery, Tommy Jones and her devoted daughter-in-law, Dianne Jones of Fort Deposit, daughter and caregiver, Velma Deloise Scott Briggs, Greenville, adopted daughter, Ethel Powell (Wiley) both of Greenville, 10 grandchildren, four adopted grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and nine adopted great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
