Odie B. Smith Cater, 72, a resident of McKenzie, Ala., passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, from Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Mason Haliker and Rev. Darrell Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel West Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing arrangements. The family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 27, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Ms. Cater is preceded in death by her parents, Odie and Velma Wright Smith; son, Tommie Wright; sister, Missy Moody; and brother, Wilton Smith. Ms. Cater is survived by her daughters, Joyce Brantley, Georgiana, Ala., and Gayle Weathers, McKenzie, Ala.; brothers, Virgil Smith, Georgiana, Ala., W.T. Smith and Shelton Smith, both of Greenville, Ala.; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
