A search warrant yielded a multitude of stolen street signs and drugs in Brantley on Friday.

Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Mike Johnson said deputies, along with the Brantley Police Department, executed a search warrant on a home in Brantley.

“What we found during the search was a bunch of street signs and one in a vehicle,” he said. “Stealing of the street signs has been a problem throughout the county, and it’s a big expense to the county.”

Law enforcement charged Zachary Hodge, 26, with receiving stolen property III, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of controlled substance.

Additionally, they charged Stephanie Campbell, 31, with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and Johnson said there is a pending charge of receiving stolen property for her.

Hodge is currently in the county jail on a $12,000 bond.

Campbell had made bond.

Sheriff Charles West said  the stealing of street signs and other county signs has been going on for a long time.

“We will not tolerate this,” he said. “This has been a problem in this county for far too long. It costs the county money to replace these signs.”
