OBIT: Virginia Thompson Shiver

SHIVER, Ms. Virginia Thompson, 80, of West Palm Beach, FL died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, following an extended illness.  Virginia was born in Luverne, Alabama and graduated from Auburn University. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City to pursue a career in the fashion industry. She and her former husband, the late Wade Hampton Shiver II, owned and operated The Prep Shop on Worth Avenue, and later in Boca Raton and Miami.

 

Virginia is predeceased by her parents, Grace Gibson Thompson and Charles Lowell Thompson, and her brothers, Charles Lewis Thompson and Waymon Bayne Thompson. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Virginia is survived by her son, W. Hampton Shiver III (wife Tiffany); grandsons Owen Wesley Shiver and Graham Edward Shiver; her sister, Marian Thompson Ballard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday September 13, 2013 at the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Interment will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friendsFriday morning at Turner Funeral Home from 10 am until service time.
