Maxine Darby Steindorff passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday, Sept 5, 2013 in Montgomery at the age of 89.  She was a resident of Greenville, Ala., most of her adult life but spent the past year in Montgomery.  She was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Owassa, Ala., and is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.  Her husband of 64 years, Calvin Steindorff, preceded her in death in 2011.  She is survived by her son: Gil (Debbie) Steindorff of Montgomery, Ala.; her grandson, Bert (Amy) Steindorff of Birmingham, Ala.; and two great-granddaughters, Margaret Darby Steindorff and Elizabeth Ann Steindorff. She has two surviving sisters: Laurice Kern of Montgomery and Perry M. Williams of Owassa, in addition to many nieces and nephews.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Greenville all of her adult life and enjoyed participating in church activities, civic clubs, and her coffee club.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and, most of all, her family and two great granddaughters.

A visitation will be held for family and friends at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a service in the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home, with burial at Magnolia Cemetery in Greenville.  Rev. Johnny Padalino and Rev. Jerry Wilkerson will be officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
