Fort Dale JV falls to Edgewood in opener

Edgewood Academy defeated Fort Dale Academy 42-14 Tuesday night in the Eagles’ season opening contest.

Fort Dale head coach Josh Beverly said that while the score shows a lopsided contest, he doesn’t feel it gives an accurate picture of how his team played.

“I thought we played hard, and that’s what we asked them to do,” Beverly said. “We made too many mistakes that let the game get away. I don’t know if we will play a better team the rest of the year, so we had some positives and were getting ready for Wilcox next week.”

Fort Dale offensive charge was led by Clay Mansman and Luke Taylor.

Mansman finished with a team-high 36 yards on 10 carries.

Taylor completed 6-of-9 pass attempts for 74 yards and a touchdown.

Tanner Cartwright was on the receiving end of Taylor’s 37-yard touchdown toss.

Andrew Salter added a 1-yard touchdown run for Fort Dale.

The Eagles will be back in action Tuesday when they host Wilcox Academy.

The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.
