A Crenshaw County man will likely spend the rest of his life behind bars after Circuit Judge Terri Lovell handed down a 99-year and 20-year sentence on Tuesday.

Lovell sentenced Lawrence “Larry” Woodward, 36, to 20 years on a first-degree sexual abuse conviction and 99 years on the second-degree sodomy conviction to run consecutively.

Woodward was convicted recently, after he was arrested on the charges in September 2010.

District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer said she was pleased with the sentencing.
