Mark Seymour will bring his highly energetic musical performance Be-At-Your-Best to Greenville on Thursday as the Greenville-Butler County Public Library kicks off its Summer Reading Program for 2013.

Seymour will perform at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

“Mark is a fun guy to help us start our Summer Reading program,” said Library Director Kevin Pearcey. “He interacts well with the children and gets them up and moving and excited about Summer Reading.”

Throughout the approximately one-hour program Seymour performs with a variety of instruments, even incorporating the children into the performance.

Summer Reading will be held every Tuesday and Thursday in June and is for ages 2 to fourth grades.

Parents may register their children at the library on Thursday either before or after the program. Pre-registration is also available on the library’s website: www.greenville-bcpl.org.

Times for children to come to the library are as follows:

  • Ages 2 & 3: Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (Parents MUST stay with the child)
  • Ages 4 & 5: Tuesdays 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
  • Completed K5 to 1st Grade: Thursdays 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Completed 2nd Grade to 4th Grade: Thursdays 11 a.m. to Noon

Prizes will be awarded to children who complete their reading incentive goals. Programs each day will consist of a snack and craft. Additionally, said Pearcey, Summer Reading T-shirts are available for purchase at the cost of $6 apiece.

The library will conclude Summer Reading on Wednesday, July 3 with a special performance of The Secret Garden by the famous Hampstead Stage Co.
