Hospital offers volunteer program for local students

L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital wants to help teens decide if a career in healthcare may be in their future.
For the second consecutive year, L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital is inviting teens to spend some of their free time during the summer as volunteers at the hospital.
The Teen Volunteer Program, which was started in 2012, will begin June 3 and end Aug. 2.
“Participants in this program will benefit from exposure to the healthcare profession, as well as other career choices,” said Linda Holley, community outreach coordinator for L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital. “The teens will have the opportunity to give back to others while performing a community service in an area that meets their career goals and interests.”
The program is open to students in 10th through 12th grade. Holley said the hospital will accept 20 volunteers for the program.
An organizational meeting will be held May 9 at 6 p.m. at the hospital to answer any questions applicants, parents or teachers may have about the Teen Volunteer Program.
