Panthers win tournament title

Georgiana School cruised to a 67-39 win over Goshen High School Tuesday night to claim first place at the Georgiana Thanksgiving Clash.

Four Panthers scored in double figures to help Georgiana notch its third win of the season.

Freshman forward Richard Boggan led the charge with 19 points and 7 rebounds.

Senior guard Carlo Mitchell scored 16 points, and senior forward Justin Oikle recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Freshman guard Jacquez Payton, who was named tournament MVP after averaging 17.5 points, scored 12 points in the win over the Eagles.

Boggan and Mitchell were also named to the all-tournament team.

The Panthers advanced to the title game by knocking off Booker T. Washington Magnet School 86-78 Monday night.

Payton led the charge with 23 points and 8 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Devin McMeans chipped in 18 points, while sophomore forward Travales Smith added 15 points and Boggan tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Georgiana will be back in action Tuesday when it plays host to Florala High School. B-team action starts at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity set to follow.
