Effort will be at the top of Fort Dale Academy head coach James “Speed” Sampley’s to-do list following a 52-14 loss to No. 5 Monroe Academy on Friday.

“We got whooped pretty much on offense, defense and special teams,” Sampley said.

The Vols seized control early, scoring 38 points in the game’s opening half.

Fort Dale was scoreless until the fourth quarter when it scored on a fumble recovery and a 4-yard run by junior Chase Whiddon.

“We didn’t execute,” Sampley said. “If you don’t do anything right you don’t expect to get much out of it.”

Whiddon was the leading tackler for Fort Dale with 10 stops. Chip Taylor was 5-for-13 for 63 yards through the air. Ryan Salter was the leading receiver with three catches for 52 yards. Ryan Taylor was the leading rusher with 11 rushes for 60 yards.

Fort Dale will face off against Morgan Academy at home on Friday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
