Betty Brown has announced her intent to seek election for the McKenzie Town Council.
Brown is seeking the District 2 seat.
“The steps leading up to school in McKenzie are like the town now,” Brown said. “Built during the war, the steps have seen many things go and come and have broken with age. The town is like that. If you will notice the first few are cracked and broken and are in need of repair.”
If elected, Brown would like to cater to senior citizens and help attract businesses to the town.
“I was born there so I love the town,” Brown said. “I would like to see the school and the town work together more. I would like to see (the town hall) as a (place) where we can get more information for our citizens as far as anything the pertains to the town that is going on.”
The election will be held Aug. 28.
