Bill Henry has announced his intent to seek election as mayor of the Town of McKenzie.

Henry has sought the office once before.

“I see the Town of McKenzie in a decline over the years, and it has just continued to go down,” Henry said. “I just feel like that I have the time, and I’ll work hard enough to try and do something to help it.”

Henry hopes that 25 years of experience in business will enable him to help McKenzie grow.

“One of the main things is that the school continues to stay open,” Henry said. “The other thing is to try and get some businesses that will come to McKenzie. It’s never going to be a booming metropolis. If something is not done in another five or six years, it’ll be just like Garland. There won’t be anything there.”

The municipal election will be held Aug. 28.
