The Greenville City Council appointed Gail Gibson to the Housing Authority Board at its meeting Tuesday night.

Gibson’s term will expire Dec. 12, 2016.

“Gail is a very passionate and caring person, and I think she’ll be a great addition to the board,” Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon said.

In other business:

• The Council approved an $11,550 payment to Skipper Construction, a $1,200 payment to Pest Tech Termite and Pest Control, Inc. and $19,990 to Couch Concrete for work on the new Public Works Building.
• The Council approved a $6,314.20 payment to Comm Serv, Inc. for installing lights, push bumpers, consoles and sirens on two new police cruisers.
• The Council approved a $1,500 payment to Scott Burkett Painting & Carpentry for repairs to the doors at the Ritz Theatre. The payment was made from the Ritz Theatre Surcharge Account.
• The Council approved a $1,200 payment to Ark Builders, Inc. for the removal and disposal of asbestos from city buildings.
