Greenville High School has a few things to think about this summer.

Six to be exact.

That’s how many points Hillcrest-Evergreen High School beat Greenville by in Friday’s spring scrimmage.

“I want them to be thinking about that all summer,” second-year head coach Earnest Hill said.

The Tigers tied Valley High School 7-7 before falling to Hillcrest-Evergreen 6-0.

While the Tigers failed to notch a win, Hill saw plenty of positives.

“I thought we did a good job of competing against Valley,” he said. “Valley had a very good football team that had a really aggressive defense, and they made some plays on offense, but we hung in there and battled.”

Hill was particularly pleased with the play of his defense.

“We had some guys step up and make big plays on that side of the ball,” he said.

Terrail Snipes may have made the biggest play of the day for the Greenville defense when he intercepted a Valley pass and returned it 75 yards.

Offensively, the Tigers struggled due in large part to the inexperience of the offensive line.

“We had some guys out because of injury and had to play some kids that are young and weren’t quite ready for the speed of the game,” Hill said. “That caused some problems for us offensively, but I liked the way our guys competed.”

Hill said he was also impressed with the play of Brian Smith, Cornelius Ball, Xavier Hartley, Jerome Watkins and Matthew Craig.
