“The student must have provided at least 100 hours of certified community service during Key Club membership years,” Simmons said.  “Service can be with the Key Club, Kiwanis Club, community organizations, school learning projects, religious-based service or an individual effort to help others and improve the community.”

Millo, who plans to attend Troy University, said he hopes to continue his community service in college and continue to practice what he has learned through the Key Club.

“This club is all about community service and the idea of putting someone else’s needs before your own,” Millo said. “When I attend Troy, I still plan to work in multiple service events. Community service has become a major part of my life.”

Gibson, who also plans to attend Troy University and study nursing, said she will be able to use what she has learned in her career.

“Just as in Key Club, when I become a nurse, I can help people with emotional problems, as well as physical problems,” Gibson said.

“Nursing is a career in which I can continue to help others. I am thankful that the Key Club helped me truly realize my love of helping others.”
