Butler County is ready to saddle up again just in time for the 3rd annual Butler County Sheriff’s PCA Championship Rodeo.

At 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Butler County Fairgrounds, Bo Campbell Rodeo Productions will be ready to entertain the community with bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing, break away roping, saddle bronc riding and bull riding. The rodeo will also feature rodeo clowns as part of the show.

“It’s something we started three years ago, and it’s family oriented,” Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden said. “We’ve been able to take the proceeds and buy different equipment (for the Sheriff’s Office).”

Last year’s proceeds went to child identity kits that were given out to students at each school in Butler County.

“Hopefully, we can use this one at this time for Project Lifesaver,” Harden said.

Project Lifesaver is a bracelet specifically made for individuals with Alzheimer’s and other related mental disorders who may wander away from home. The bracelet puts out a radio signal that would alert the proper authorities.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. each night. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

“It’s good family fun, and we use the proceeds to buy equipment that we need throughout the county to make the Sheriff’s Office better,” Harden said.
