The Butler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Greenville man on Thursday for the second time in less than week.

Kenneth Morgan, 30, has been charged with second-degree arson and receiving stolen property, first degree, after officers found stolen items in his home, according to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden. Officers linked the items to a house on a Forest Home hunting camp that was burned down on March 26.

“We executed a search warrant on his residence, and we found items from the house out there,” Harden said.

Morgan was recently charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal mischief after shooting Melissa Ward in the head at her home on Sandcutt Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. on March 30 over a dispute involving a motorcycle.

According to Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden, Morgan had left a motorcycle at the Sandcutt Road location to be repaired. After Morgan failed to pick the motorcycle up after some time, Ward and the other owners of the location sold the motorcycle.

Morgan drove his car onto Ward’s front lawn ramming a parked Fort Mustang in the process and proceeded to fire his gun toward the house, Harden said.

Ward was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.

At this time, Harden said he believes more charges will be placed on Morgan as officers continue their investigation.
