The Butler County Commission voted unanimously on Monday to appoint Jerre Turner to the DHR Board.

Turner was appointed to fill the unexpired term of deceased board member Claude Williams. The term is set to expire in August of 2015.

The commission also reappointed Marvin Hartley to the Quint Mar Water Board for a six-year term that expires in March of 2018.

In other business:

The commission declared the week of April 21-28 as “Don’t Drop It on Alabama” week.

“Don’t Drop it on Alabama” is a statewide spring clean-up initiative.

Aside from having statewide participation, the goal is to have citizens in each county get involved in beautifying the appearance of the county and state roadsides in the area by picking up roadside litter.
