On paper it will simply show up as a loss.

But Greenville High School first-year head coach Evan Kelley saw more than what will show up on paper in the Tigers’ 8-3 loss to Andalusia High School on Friday and their 7-5 loss to Gulf Shores High School on Saturday.

“We are getting better,” he said. “We need to get our pitching to come around.  It’s getting better, but it’s not quite where we need it to be. We are making progress.”

Kelley said the Tigers (1-4) had a chance to win the Gulf Shores game in the seventh inning, but were unable to complete the comeback.

“We made some mental mistakes that really cost us, but we were right there in both games, hanging in and competing,” he said.
