Southern Care Hospice holding drive

Southern Care Hospice is creating a way to bring some love to residents in four counties.

Volunteer Coordinator Brandee McNaughton is working hard to create a teddy bear and hygiene item drive for hospice patients, nursing home residents and assisted living facility patients.

“This helps them emotionally to have something to love, hold and cuddle,” McNaughton said. “It would be strictly donations, and all of it would go to patients.”

The drive started on Friday and will go until March 16. Items can be dropped off at the office or people can call the office at 334-382-1406 to have someone come get the items.

“One item would help one person,” McNaughton said. “Anything that the community can give to give back is very much appreciated. (The gifts) don’t have to be extravagant.”

McNaughton serves Butler, Crenshaw, Conecuh and Covington counties and will bring the items to those four counties.

McNaughton said she believes in Greenville and hopes that the community will reach out.

“My heart is in it, and I think when people reach out to one another, everything comes back to you. I think the community can give back and in return they will receive in their heart something good by helping others.”
