SPECIAL TO THE ADVOCATE

The Fort Dale Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution awarded Judy Taylor with its Community Service Award.

“Taylor has selflessly volunteered her time for a number of very worthwhile organizations,” a news release from the Fort Dale Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution said. “She has been one of the quiet soldiers who operated behind the scenes, unobtrusively going about her business of helping people and service groups while taking very little credit for her actions.”

Since 1992, Taylor has volunteered her time and energy to serve as the Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society (BCHGS) librarian. She organizes other volunteers and maintains the BCHGS collection.  She continuously works to collect all types of media and data for the library so it will continue to be one of the leading attractions in the City of Greenville.

Taylor is the editor of The Butler County Historical & Genealogical Society Quarterly and has served in this capacity for 19 years. She has also authored many of the articles that have been published in The Quarterly.

Taylor has also worked on various committees to erect historical markers in the county.  She has served as volunteer coordinator for two major publications sponsored by the Historical Society, A Pictorial History of Butler County, a joint project with the Greenville Advocate, and Butler County Heritage Book, published with Heritage Publishing Consultants.
