Two individuals have been arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle in connection with an incident that occurred Jan. 21.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 6 p.m. on Jan. 21 from L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital informing officers that Stanley Tolliver had been shot in the neck.

“We received a call in reference to a victim that had been shot and was at the hospital,” Sheriff Kenny Harden said. “We went out there and the victim had been shot in the neck. He told us who had shot into his vehicle.”

Shortly after, Lareco McMeans of Fort Deposit was arrested and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle.

“It occurred right at the county line,” Harden said. “We arrested him that night and after further investigation it was determined that Tolliver was also shooting into McMeans’ vehicle.”

Tolliver was also charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle. Harden said after further investigation, it was determined that the altercation took place over a female.

“The investigation unit has done a good job,” Harden said. “They responded, got familiar quickly and made an arrest shortly afterwards.”
