GMS slips past CHMS

The Greenville Middle School girls’ basketball team squeaked out a 33-31 win against Charles Henderson Middle School Thursday night in Greenville.

With the win, the Lady Tigers improved to 6-0 on the season.

It was another nail-biting game that came down to the final seconds,” GMS head coach Karen Owens said.

Another, as in the second time in less than a week that the Lady Tigers won a game by a single basket. On Monday, Greenville edged Marshall 33-31.

In the win over CHMS, Shakireyonna Rudolph scored a team-high 16 points. Eboni Etheridge and Whitney Jones scored 7 and 4 points, respectively.

In the win over Marshall, Rudolph was forced to the sidelines in the fourth quarter with a sprained ankle. In her absence, Etheridge and Destinee Smith took over. Both players scored 8 points to lead the Lady Tigers.

Rudolph finished with 7 points.

On Nov. 10, the Lady Tigers defeated Lowndes County 52-14.

Rudolph scored 20, Smith scored 8 and Takira Walker added 7 in the win.

The GMS boys’ basketball team improved to 5-0 with a win 52-39 against Marshall on Monday.

Eleven Tigers scored at least two points in the win. Kionte McGrew and Marlon Davidosn led the way with 12 points apiece.

Isaac Howard chipped in 6 points in the win.

The Tigers topped Lowndes County 33-23 on Nov. 10.

McGrew paced Greenville with 10 points, while Davidson and Jaquan Lewis added 6 points each.

Greenville will be back in action Nov. 28 when it plays host to Lowndes County.

Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
