Greenville High School knew Vigor High School had a good defense.

On Friday night, the Tigers found out the Wolves have a pretty good offense too.

Vigor scored 26 first-half points en route to a 48-17 win in the second round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoffs.

“Our guys don’t have anything to hang their heads about,” Greenville head coach Earnest Hill said. “We just got beat by a better team tonight.”

Friday’s loss was the first for the Tigers (11-1) since Aug. 26 when Class 6A Wetumpka topped Greenville 24-7. That game was eventually awarded to the Tigers after Wetumpka was deemed to have used an ineligible player.

Senior Jamall Hamilton scored both of the Tigers’ touchdowns Friday night. The first came on a 6-yard run early in the fourth quarter. His second came on a 89-yard kickoff return.

“Our seniors did a great job this season,” Hill said. “They’ve laid a foundation for our program that we can build on.”

Greenville’s other points came on a field goal by junior Ozell Carter.
